By implementing our comprehensive DEI strategy, we aim to create a school community where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Together, we can build a more inclusive and equitable future for all members of the St. Bonaventure Academy community.

“WHO CAN BELONG IN OUR CITIES WILL DETERMINE WHAT OUR CITIES CAN BECOME.”

Our DEI strategy is grounded in the following principles:

  • Commitment to Diversity: We value and celebrate the diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences of our students, staff, and community members. We are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where all individuals feel respected, valued, and empowered.

  • Promoting Equity: We are dedicated to promoting equity and fairness in all aspects of our academic and extracurricular programs. We strive to identify and address disparities and barriers to success, ensuring that all students have access to the resources and support they need to thrive.

  • Creating Inclusive Spaces: We are committed to creating inclusive learning environments where every student feels safe, supported, and encouraged to express themselves authentically. We promote open dialogue, cultural competency, and mutual respect among students, staff, and community members.

  • Cultivating Cultural Competency: We believe that cultural competency is essential for promoting understanding, empathy, and collaboration across diverse communities. We provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for our staff to enhance their cultural competency skills and create culturally responsive classrooms.

  • Empowering Student Voice: We actively engage students in the decision-making process and empower them to be advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion in their school and community. We provide opportunities for students to lead diversity-related initiatives, participate in affinity groups, and contribute to a more inclusive school culture.

  • Building Community Partnerships: We recognize the importance of collaborating with community organizations, businesses, and stakeholders to advance our DEI goals. We seek out partnerships that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion and leverage resources and expertise to support our students and families.

  • Assessing and Evaluating Progress: We regularly assess and evaluate our DEI initiatives to ensure accountability and measure progress toward our goals. We collect feedback from students, staff, and stakeholders, and use data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
