"For in truth, a poor and unlearned old woman can love God better than a Doctor of Theology."

Our Mission

St. Bonaventure Academy empowers children, families and the community of Cleveland’s most economically challenged area to break the cycle of socioeconomic strain and embrace diligence, humility, love and respect as they serve the broader community.

Our Story

Founded in 2023, St. Bonaventure Academy was established with a mission to provide high-quality education to Cleveland’s most economically challenged areas. Under the leadership of Founder and CEO Carrie Grace, the academy was built on the belief that every child deserves the same level of opportunity and excellence found in the best schools in the suburbs.

Carrie Grace, an experienced educator and community leader, spent over a decade collecting data, in collaboration with experienced professionals, on the most effective educational models. She knew that St. Bonaventure Academy could be the solution to breaking the cycle of socioeconomic strain in Northeast Cleveland. More than just a school, it is a place of collaboration, unity, and empowerment, ensuring that the beauty and potential within the community are nurtured and given a path to success.

St. Bonaventure Academy quickly gained momentum, establishing a highly engaged and diverse board of experienced leaders. By January 2024, the academy officially obtained its nonprofit status, marking a crucial step in its growth.

Through strong community relationships, the academy has secured formal partnerships with KeyBank, The McKeon Education Group, The Cleveland Transformation Alliance, University Hospitals, and several local businesses, strengthening the foundation of support for its students and families.

In January 2025, the academy brought on a part-time Advancement Coordinator to further expand fundraising efforts and community outreach.

At St. Bonaventure Academy, we recognize that many people are doing incredible work to uplift the community. Through collaboration, understanding, and dedication, we are committed to fostering unity and creating a successful future for our students and the Northeast Cleveland community.

“This is a monumental move for the community. These types of schools are unheard of in this community and I'm proud my children will have this opportunity to level the playing field.”
