"It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change."

Carrie Grace

Internal Executive

  • As the Chief Executive Officer for St. Bonaventure Academy, I bring a wealth of experience in educational leadership and a strong commitment to fostering a thriving learning community. With 14 years of experience in educational leadership and 10 years of teaching experience, I possess a deep understanding of the intricacies of the field. Furthermore, my additional role as a firefighter for the past 10 years has equipped me with unique skills that contribute to the diverse skill set needed in this position.

I pursued my education at St. Bonaventure University, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Pre-Law and Philosophy, followed by a Master's degree in Strategic Leadership. These academic achievements have provided me with a strong foundation in critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic planning.

Throughout my career, I have achieved notable accomplishments. I am proud to be a mother of five young men, which has strengthened my appreciation for the importance of family values and the role they play in education. During my experience assuming leadership roles, I have held various administrative positions. In these roles, I successfully managed budget planning, oversaw accreditation and start-up processes, handled payroll and HR matters, prioritized school safety, resolved conflicts, facilitated service learning initiatives, streamlined operational systems, managed enrollment and scholarship processes, conducted curriculum research and coaching, and implemented blended learning approaches.

One of my strengths lies in creating a strong staff and student culture. By prioritizing teacher observations and staff recognition, I fostered a positive and collaborative environment among the staff. I also initiated student programs such as the PBIS discipline system, the Society of Established Women to empower young women, and the a successful, inner city rugby program, which earned the state championship title in 2021. Additionally, I have organized various school programming events such as talent shows, black history programs, art galleries, field days, and the unique "AAYE Day" where middle schoolers were surprised with classes in various locations around Cleveland when they thought they would be state testing. I implemented effective intervention programs and systems, facilitated the Leadership Gala to showcase student leadership, and introduced elective programming to provide students with diverse learning opportunities.

Building strong relationships with staff and students is a personal strength of mine. I deeply value the unique gifts and talents of each individual, recognizing the divine presence in all aspects of our work. I am dedicated to celebrating the uniqueness of every student and fostering an environment where everyone can thrive. As a lifelong learner, I am constantly inspired by the possibilities for growth among our students and staff.

With my extensive experience, passion for education, and a track record of successful program development, I am committed to leading St. Bonaventure Academy towards a future of excellence, empowering students, and creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Loren Mckeon

  • It is with an extremely heavy heart that I share the passing of our beloved board member, Loren McKeon, founder and CEO of the McKeon Education Group, whose guiding principle was "It’s all about the kids." Loren was one of the most extraordinary women I have ever had the honor of knowing. Her passion for children, education, and her family was unmatched, and her dedication to St. Bonaventure Academy was truly profound.

Loren was a hero in every sense of the word. She lived her life in service to others, never focusing on herself. No matter the challenges she faced, she consistently redirected conversations to uplift and support those around her. She had a remarkable gift for listening and an innate sense of when to reach out, offering encouragement and grace as a woman deeply grounded in faith. Her humility, generosity, and selflessness set a powerful example, and the lessons she taught me are invaluable. When I met her daughters, Halle and Lindsay, I saw so much of Loren in them—they embody her kindness, intelligence, and vibrant spirit. Loren’s pride in her family was evident, and I ask that you keep them in your prayers as they navigate this tremendous loss.

Loren was the first person I reached out to when I felt called to start a school. Her response was filled with excitement and unwavering support: “This is amazing! If anyone can do this, it’s you, Carrie. And remember, I’m the first person to be on your board!” Her words were accompanied by action, as she became a driving force behind our vision. Loren became the first member of the St. Bonaventure Academy Board of Directors in March of 2022. She shared with me that supporting this mission was part of her own lifelong dream of starting a school—something she felt was now unfolding through God’s plan. While I wish she could have seen the Academy fully operational, I know she saw it clearly in her heart, and her spirit will continue to guide us.

Rest peacefully, my dear friend. You have left a legacy of love, compassion, and strength. St. Bonaventure Academy will forever honor you as its first board member and guiding light. I promise to carry forward your legacy, dedicating my work to uphold the values you instilled in me and to ensure that “it’s all about the kids.”

  • Dear God,

Please wrap your light around the entire McKeon family as their hearts fill with grief from such a heavy loss. We know that Loren is right there with you and her soul is at peace no longer hindered by the limitations of her body. Continue to remind us always of her spirit, energy and grace and allow us to use this as we honor her memory every day. We are grateful for the love you show us and we ask that our minds not stray in grief but rather be inspired by the memory of such an awe-inspiring woman. Lift up our hearts and give our love and appreciation to Loren for all that she has done for each and everyone of us.

    In your name we pray,

    AMEN
